WEVA Member Organizes Wedding Video Workshop
June 10, 2002
Sarasota, FL - Maureen Bacon, a longtime WEVA member and WEVA EXPO (and WEVA Town Meeting 2002 ) presenter, recently organized a successful 3-day video workshop in Estes Park, CO. The 10 attendees, all women, included a photographer, who was interested in learning about wedding imaging from the videographer's perspective.
Bacon, of Impact Images in Westminster, CO, divided the workshop into a number of sessions. After arrivals, dinner, and socializing, business started with each videographer showing some of their own work, and sharing several shooting and/or editing techniques.
More shooting techniques were discussed throughout the program, and those were tested during a field trip to the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. While trading cameras, in order to gain an understanding of the features of the different models, the attendees also practiced the use of slow shutter speeds, rack focus, depth-of-field shots, and creative foreground shots.
The workshop, held in a stylish resort rental home, also allowed attendees time to network and talk shop in a relaxed environment. The challenges facing wedding videographers, and how to overcome them, were a frequently visited topic.
Because the workshop was held in a home, albeit a grand one, attendance was
restricted to female videographers. Bacon will be presenting a featured seminar on "Wedding & Event Video Hot Shots" at this year's 12th Annual WEVA EXPO, August 26-29, 2002 at Bally's Las Vegas.
