WEVA Hall of Fame, Special Awards Nominations Open
April 03, 2003

Sarasota, FL - As the 13th Annual WEVA EXPO approaches, WEVA International has announced the Call for Nominations for the 2003 WEVA Industry Service Awards and 2003 WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame induction. Deadline for all nomination submissions is June 3, 2003, according to Kathryn Ritondo, WEVA Special Awards Committee chair.

The WEVA Special Awards Nomination Form is available as a downloadable PDF file on the WEVA website at www.weva.com (click on the Hall of Fame logo on the home page). The 2003 honorees will be announced at the special WEVA Awards Presentation at WEVA EXPO 2003 on Thursday, August 28, 2003.

The WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame opened in August 2000 at the 10th Annual WEVA EXPO. The industry's historical "Tools and Technology" exhibit was unveiled, which commemorated the earliest days of professional wedding and event videography. At WEVA EXPO 2001, WEVA International announced the first WEVA Hall of Fame induction of videographers whose contributions to the professional wedding and event video industry nurtured its growth.

The Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award, named in memory of the pioneering videographer and local association founder from Tulsa, OK, was introduced in 1999. This Special Award honors the WEVA International member who, through donation of time, through service to fellow videographers by teaching or writing, by service in a local association or on a national level, strives for exemplary professionalism that lights a pathway for other videographers to follow.

The Bob LeBar Vision Award, which was introduced in 2000, is named in memory of the groundbreaking video animator from Long Island, NY. The award honors the WEVA International member who has made innovative contributions to the development of the professional event video community by advancing unique ideas, and invoking a keen sense of entrepreneurial spirit, together with a strong sense of professional pride, raising the "bar" to new heights.

WEVA International is the leading trade association for professional wedding and event videographers. The association is dedicated to advancing the professional interests of wedding and event videographers worldwide through continuing education, technical support, group benefits, advocacy committees and professional development training.
